privacy
policy.

effective may 28, 2026last updated may 28, 2026

buddy is in private beta. this page is short on purpose — right now, the only thing we collect from you is a name and an email so we can tell you when buddy is ready. nothing else.

01what this covers

this policy describes how buddy (the website at usebuddy.co and any of our marketing pages) collects and uses information about you. it does not describe the buddy product itself — when the product launches, a separate, more detailed policy will cover it. you'll be asked to read and accept that one before you can use buddy.

this page is about the website. a separate, bigger policy will come with the actual product.

02what we collect

from the waitlist form, we collect exactly two things:

  • your name — so we can address you when we email you.
  • your email address — so we can email you.

we also collect basic, anonymous analytics about page visits — what pages you saw, what your screen size was, what country your IP address resolves to. we do not collect your IP address itself.

what we don't collectwe don't track you across sites, fingerprint your device, scrape your social profiles, or buy data about you. we don't ask for your phone number, address, employer, or anything else.

03how we use it

your name and email are used only to:

  • tell you when buddy is ready to meet you (one email, eventually).
  • occasionally — and at most monthly — share a short update on progress, if you'd want it. you can opt out from any email.
  • let you in to the private beta when your number is up.

anonymous analytics are used to understand whether the waitlist site is working — how many people land on it, how many sign up, what's confusing.

04who sees it

your name and email sit in our email service provider's database (currently Resend, which complies with GDPR and SOC 2). a small number of buddy team members can see the list. we do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone else.

the email tool we use can see your email. nobody else can.

05where it lives

data is stored on servers in the european union and the united states, depending on the service. it's encrypted in transit and at rest. we keep your name and email until you ask us to remove them, or until 12 months after buddy launches and you haven't joined — whichever comes first.

06your rights

you can ask us, at any time and for any reason, to:

  • show you the data we have about you.
  • correct it if it's wrong.
  • delete all of it.
  • export it as a json file.
  • stop emailing you (every email also has an unsubscribe link).

send any of these requests to privacy@usebuddy.co. we respond within 7 business days. you don't need to give a reason.

07cookies

this website uses one cookie: a session identifier that lets the waitlist form remember if you've already signed up, so we don't ask you twice. it expires when you close your browser. we do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party analytics that track you.

08children

buddy is built for adults. we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. if you're a parent or guardian and you think your child has joined the waitlist, email us and we'll remove the record.

09changes

if we change this policy meaningfully, we'll email everyone on the waitlist and update the “last updated” date above. small fixes (typos, link updates) won't get an email but will still bump the date.

10contact

questions, requests, or concerns: privacy@usebuddy.co. a human being reads every one of these.

if you'd like to take a complaint further, you can reach out to your local data protection authority. in the EU that's your national DPA; in the UK that's the ICO.
