terms of
service.

effective may 28, 2026last updated may 28, 2026

these terms apply to the waitlist site you're on right now. they are deliberately short because right now we're not offering you a product — we're offering you a spot in line.

01what this covers

this document is the agreement between you and buddy labs, inc. (“buddy”, “we”, “us”) for using this website at usebuddy.co and related marketing pages.

it does not cover the buddy product, which doesn't yet exist. when buddy launches, you'll be asked to accept a separate, longer license before you can use it.

this is about the website. the product terms will come later, when there's a product.

02the waitlist

by entering your name and email into the waitlist form, you are:

  • asking us to email you when buddy is ready.
  • granting us permission to send you that email, plus occasional updates on progress.
  • confirming that you're at least 16 years old(we don't knowingly collect emails from minors).
  • giving us permission to count you in aggregate signup stats (e.g., “we have 12,000 people on the list”) — never with your name or email attached.

03what we promise

  • your spot is yours. we won't sell it, lose it on purpose, or give it to someone else.
  • you'll get at most one email per month while buddy is in development, plus one when buddy is ready for you.
  • you can unsubscribe at any time, from any email, with one click.
  • we'll treat your name and email per our privacy policy.

04what we don't promise

we want to be straight with you. specifically:

  • we don't guarantee a launch date.
  • we don't guarantee a specific feature set — what ships may differ from what we've shown.
  • we don't guarantee that everyone on the waitlist gets in. if we have to limit capacity at launch, we'll let in waitlist members in roughly the order they signed up.
  • we don't guarantee that buddy will be free, paid, freemium, or any specific pricing model.
nothing here is a contract for a product.joining the waitlist is not a purchase, a preorder, or a binding commitment from us to deliver a product. it's a promise to keep you in the loop.

05how to use this site

use this site like a reasonable person. specifically, please don't:

  • submit fake or someone else's email addresses.
  • spam the form, abuse rate limits, or otherwise mess with infrastructure.
  • scrape, mirror, or republish this site or its branding without permission.
  • impersonate buddy, our team, or pretend to be an official affiliate.

we may remove your waitlist entry if you do any of the above. no refunds — there's nothing to refund.

06our content

everything you see on this site — the wordmark, the characters (mochi, pip, sage, bolt, nova), the copy, the design — belongs to buddy labs, inc. we like that you like it. please don't use it for your own brand, marketing, or merchandise.

if you want to write about buddy, please do — and if you need assets (logos, screenshots), email press@usebuddy.co and we'll send you a press kit.

07liability

this site is provided as is. we do our best to keep it working, but we don't promise it will always be available or bug-free.

to the maximum extent allowed by law, buddy labs, inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site. if a court decides we owe you money for something, our total liability for this site is capped at $50 USD.

we'll try hard. if something goes wrong with this website, the most we can owe you is fifty bucks.

08ending things

you can leave the waitlist at any time — just unsubscribe or email hello@usebuddy.co.

we can also end this for you if you abuse the site (see section 05) — though we'll try to email you first.

if buddy labs, inc. winds down before the product launches, we'll delete the waitlist database and email everyone to let them know.

09governing law

these terms are governed by the laws of the state of California, USA. any dispute that can't be sorted out by email goes to the state or federal courts located in San Francisco, California.

if you're in the EU or UK, this doesn't override any consumer protections you have under your local law.

10changes

we may update these terms. if it's a meaningful change, we'll email the waitlist and update the “last updated” date at the top. continuing to be on the waitlist after that means you accept the new terms. if you don't, you can leave the waitlist at any time.

11contact
